TRAIL is a long-exposure camera app published by Hugo Software. This policy explains, plainly, what the app does and does not do with your data.
The short version
TRAIL does not collect personal data. There is no account, no sign-up, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no third-party trackers. Your camera frames and your saved photos stay on your phone.
Camera
TRAIL's whole purpose is to stack camera frames into a single long exposure. To do that it needs the CAMERA permission.
Frames are read from the camera and combined on your device, in your phone's graphics processor. They are never uploaded, never written to any server, and never leave your phone. TRAIL has no ability to send them anywhere.
If you decline the camera permission, the app still opens and you can explore the capture modes on a built-in synthetic demo scene.
What is stored on your device
- Your exposures. Photos and videos you choose to save are stored locally, in the app's own storage on your phone. They are removed when you delete them in the app, or when you uninstall the app or clear its storage. We have no access to them.
- Your settings. Small preferences — the mode and colour look you last used, whether you have seen the intro, and a cached copy of the configuration file described below — are stored locally on your device.
Nothing in this list is transmitted to us.
The only two network connections TRAIL makes
1. Google Play Billing. If you start a free trial, subscribe, buy the lifetime option, or restore a purchase, that transaction is handled by Google Play services. Google receives the purchase information under Google's own privacy policy. TRAIL never sees, receives or stores your card or payment details.
2. A configuration file from our own server. On launch, TRAIL makes a single plain GET request to https://hq.bnj.app/api/v1/config/trail. It fetches feature flags — for example whether the subscription is currently on sale, or whether a maintenance notice should be shown.
That request carries no user identifier, no device identifier, no account and no personal data. As with any request over the internet, our server sees the IP address and user-agent that the connection itself carries; we do not log these for tracking or profiling, and we do not use them to build any profile of you. If the request fails, the app falls back to settings built into it and continues to work normally.
TRAIL makes no other network connections.
What we do not do
- We do not collect, store or process personal data.
- We do not use analytics, attribution or crash-reporting SDKs.
- We do not show advertising and contain no advertising SDK.
- We do not sell or share data with third parties, because we do not have any.
- We do not require or offer an account.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete on our side. Everything TRAIL stores is on your own device and under your control: delete individual items in the app's gallery, or uninstall the app to remove all of it at once. If you have purchased a subscription, your purchase record is held by Google Play, and you manage or cancel it there.
Children
TRAIL is a general-purpose camera tool. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Because the app collects nothing, material changes are unlikely; if the app ever begins collecting data, this page will say so before that version ships.
