These terms cover your use of TRAIL, a long-exposure camera app published by Hugo Software. By installing or using TRAIL you agree to them.
The app
TRAIL reads frames from your device camera and stacks them into a single long exposure that builds up on screen. It runs entirely on your device.
Your content
Photos and videos you create with TRAIL are yours. We claim no rights over them. They are stored on your device; we cannot see them and have no copy of them.
You are responsible for what you photograph and for complying with the laws where you are — including any local rules about photographing people, private property or restricted places.
Free and Pro
TRAIL's Light Trails mode is free to use, with exposures capped at 15 seconds, reduced-resolution export carrying a small watermark, and a gallery of up to 12 saved items.
TRAIL Pro unlocks all five capture modes, removes the exposure time limit, exports at full resolution without a watermark, and adds the colour looks, the extra capture controls, the build-up video export and an unlimited gallery.
Pro is a subscription, offered in three billing periods:
- Weekly, with a 3-day free trial,
- Monthly, with a 3-day free trial,
- Yearly, with a 3-day free trial.
Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you confirm anything.
Billing, trials, renewal and cancellation
All purchases are processed by Google Play. We never receive or store your payment details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- If you start a free trial and do not cancel before it ends, the subscription begins and you are charged.
- You can cancel at any time in the Google Play Store, under Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Google Play under Google's refund policy. We can help, but we cannot issue refunds ourselves.
- A subscription is tied to your Google account and can be restored with "Restore purchase" in the app.
Requirements and limits
TRAIL needs a device whose graphics support high-precision frame stacking. If your device cannot provide it, the app tells you on launch instead of producing degraded images.
Long exposure is a physical technique with real limits, and we describe them honestly rather than hiding them:
- Results depend on your scene. Light trails need a dark scene with bright moving lights; pointing at a brightly lit room produces a washed-out image, and that is the technique, not a fault.
- A steady phone matters. Rest it on something solid; handheld long exposures will blur the whole frame.
- Very long exposures keep the screen on and work the camera continuously, which uses battery and warms the device. Exposures are capped at 10 minutes for that reason.
- Some cameras do not allow their exposure to be locked. TRAIL compensates in software, but on those devices results can vary more.
No warranty
TRAIL is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for any particular purpose. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for lost photographs, missed shots, device heating, battery use, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from using the app.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer law of your country that cannot be limited by agreement.
Acceptable use
Do not use TRAIL to break the law, to photograph people who have a reasonable expectation of privacy without their consent, or to attempt to reverse-engineer, resell or redistribute the app.
Changes
We may update these terms; the date at the top changes when we do. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
